Poetry: The winter is coming:Two Soldiers On Each Side Of The Border

Top post on IndiBlogger.in, the community of Indian Bloggers
"The winter is coming...
Don't forget to get an extra supply
of Rum and sharing with us
like we did last year
and a year before that", -
said the soldier on that side of the border.
"Alright", nodded the soldier
on this side of the border.

"The winter is coming...
and so are the elections", -
said the local political leader
to the huge gathering.
"I promise to fulfill all your dreams
in next five years, if you
vote me this time too!
The same way I have done
for these five years".
"What rubbish!" someone
in the crowd said.

"The winter is coming..."
conversed two siblings.
"The coziness, the fireplace,
new warm clothes, hot food
and a lot more."

"The winter is coming...
This might be my last year
as my bones have
weakened
and my all clothes
are badly torn!"
said an old beggar
to his young partner.

Poetry: My Second Date With God

It is my second date
with God.

We both had forgotten
about our first date
so were pretty
excited, thinking
about a first date
between two strangers
though we both realized later
that we both were mistaken.

I had, though, thought about
God many a times during
my life, after
I gained my senses.

I had talked to God
many a times,
imaging,
imagining,
in a virtual space.

Most of the time it had
been difficult to differentiate
whether it was a talk within
me
or with someone outside, living
in another world.

The moment we met,
taking it as a first date,
but in actual a second date,
we both realized we had a
date before,
but had forgotten
each other's faces
and the time.

The first date was before
God dispatched me to Earth
after stamping me with my
date of production,
and now the second date is
when i have reached to my
expiry date and can no longer
stay here, as nobody needs me
here now.

Poetry: In The Spur Of A Moment

Top post on IndiBlogger.in, the community of Indian Bloggers
In the spur of a moment,
a discord between you and me,

created ripples in the still water,
generating rile for the whole life.

The whole universe is transformed
from infinite love to negligible.

Is there another chance

to revive it back
and survive?

Poetry: Chapter Of That Book Called My Life

Top post on IndiBlogger.in, the community of Indian Bloggers

Empowerment, liberty, freedom,
learning, free mind and mindful
were the words I would have wished
to be part of first chapter of that book
titled as "My Life"
and the first chapter
titled as "My Childhood".
Instead the words that got
imprinted were totally different
and reverse.

Some books are printed only
as single copy
and single edition.

No Addendum
No Correction
No Reprint
No excuses for misprint.

Best thing is
to focus on
next chapter of that book
where the pages
are still blank
and ready to
inked with
words.

Poetry: Journey Of Life With A Ghost Within

Top post on IndiBlogger.in, the community of Indian Bloggers
Hangover is still enjoyable
with a Ghost within
I fail to kick in the right time
the Ghost not to overpower me
Ghost gives me a kick
every time I get driven and forget
the right path.

Once read a line from some writer
The power is not in staying
thirsty in a desert
but the real power is
to have a pond in front of you
full of fresh water
and stay thirsty and
controlled

I Wish the Ghost
had understood.

The race is on since long
I lose every time.
He wins every time
He has a confidence to win every time
I have a faith in me that
One day I will win
One day I will be able to kick
the Ghost,
forever!

Poetry: When I Was A Child Someone Taught Me

Top post on IndiBlogger.in, the community of Indian Bloggers
When I was a Child
Someone taught me
real learning is not in
getting good marks
but in becoming wise enough
to take right decisions
and
do right always!

When I was a Child
Someone taught me
Charity is not in giving
a donation
expecting a favor in return
but should be like
a mother
who gives everything
to her child
in a selfless manner!

When I was a Child
Someone taught me
giving a meal to a poor
for one time
will do no good in his life
but either build a courage
in him to earn his bread
on his own
or
have courage to feed him
for life.

When I was a Child
Someone taught me
Poor is not who has nothing
to eat
but the one who has plenty
with him
but no heart to share
with the one who doesn't have.

When I was a Child
Someone taught me
a beggar need not be in
torn clothes
even a man in suit
begs for fame
in return of feeding poor.

When I was a Child
Someone taught me
that knowledge
unlike money,
increases when shared
and real charity
is like a long term
investment with
God.

10 Things To Do Before I Die: Guest Post: Namitha Varma: Sub Editor The Hindu And A Writer

Recently I reviewed a very small (18 pages) poetry book from Namitha Varma titled My Heart is Your Brothel. You can read the review here. She read my post on Indiblogger in the current IndiSpire topic and got inspired to writer her own 10 wishes that she has posted on her blog. I am re-posting it here so that it gets a space in IndiSpire.

Above is the tweet from her. Below is her post:

10 Things To Do Before I Die

Glean a baby’s smile
steal a cat’s cuteness
gather the raindrops and make a necklace;
touch the whispers of the wind
feel the murmurs of the stream
drink a bowlful of moonlight
breathe in the sunlight and glow from within;
travel on the sound of the chugging train
sleep on the froth of a rising tide
walk a mile in my mother’s shoes.

If I can do these before I die,
why, death would then hardly count.

Poetry: Ten Things I Must Do Before I Die

One thing is for sure
that whosoever has come
has to go
But before I go
I have a wishlist to show.

First and foremost
I would like to climb Himalayas
when I am Eighty
To make a record
that is mighty.

Second in my list is a
World Tour
to visit every place
good and bad
to meet every one
rich and poor.

Third in the list
is a personal meet
with a terrorist
to shake his mind
and soul and
turn back into a humane.

Fourth thing in my list
is to finish all the books
that are unread so far
and read again those
that I loved to read
in first go!

Fifth is to spend a
full moon night
in a vast desert
alone
with my better half.

Sixth in the list is
to write so much
that every search on any keyword
brings my name
on the first page of the list.

Seventh - to revisit all the people
who came into my life
at certain moment
and accepted to be my
guide, mentor, coach or teacher.

Eighth in the list is
to meet top politicians
of past and present
and ask what right they had
to play with the respect of
my country.

Ninth wish is to see the whole country
every village, city and citizen
happy and mindful
rich with knowledge
and
wisdom.

Tenth wish is to ensure
that all above nine wishes
are adhered to
unconditionally,
and none remain
unattended.

Poetry: Prayer

Top post on IndiBlogger.in, the community of Indian Bloggers
Give me power
for not to count my wounds
but to heal.

Give me courage
for not to focus on my pains
but to recover fast.

Give me Understanding
for not to blame others
but to empower myself.

Give me Learning
for not to become cocky
but to be docile.

Give me humility
For not to run away
but to stop and take one out of distress

Poetry: Cowards We All

Top post on IndiBlogger.in, the community of Indian Bloggers

Everyone staring at the girl walking across,
stranger but for everyone most beautiful
a stab, an attack on her by another vicious stranger
everyone pass by, turn eyes
stranger is stranger
spur of feelings overflown
the beauty goes overblown
momentous everything in life
eager to indulge in desires
fail to listen to conscious

Coward Me
Coward You
Cowards We All.

Poetry: Smile

A blind painter painting
on the roadside
unaware of appreciations
from passerby

Source: www.theguardian.com

A deaf singer singing
in a local restaurant
for some earning
unaware what people say

A young girl at orphanage
unaware of the cool breeze
that a mother brings in life
a solid stand that a father
could give

Why wait and count
for the smiles given in the past
why not
pat on the shoulder of blind painter
go and hug the deaf singer
give a gift to the young girl
and play with her for a while
and keep accumulating smiles

A never ending
recurring account of smiles

Poetry: A Summer Spent With God

It was not the first time I was in God’s land
It was the first time though
I understood God’s creations
The flowers, the wind and the rains
The land, spores and grains
For the first time I had a talk
With God and its creations
For the first time, I looked differently to situations
I found that every movement, every person
Every bit, every minute
Has its purpose
Every word, every silence
And every smile
Has its purpose
A moment when nature talks to you
A moment when silence has meanings
A moment when nature become poetry
And each moment of life becomes soulful
I walked alone throughout different
Parts – hills, jungles, land, lakes and rivers
Some places were frightful but
It never felt like I was alone
Someone was always walking along
Someone all the time holding my hand
Someone always listening to my silence
Someone always talking to me
In Most soothing tone.
Whenever I got tired someone was there
To lend me a shoulder to keep my head
And have a sleep.
Whenever I got afraid someone was there
To hold my hand and press it lightly
And give me a relief.
Whenever I was missing something
Someone came from the back
And gave me a pat.
The sea waves had a new meaning
To understand
The butterflies had a new meaning
To fly
The flowers had a new meaning
To bloom
The nature had a new meaning
To zoom.
The wind had a purpose in its
Direction and speed
The waves of the sea had a purpose
In its force
The low tide and high tide
Presented a new meaning to life.
The depth of the sea is not in its
Measurement but
The amount of life treasure it allows
To grow.
The purpose of wind in its direction and speed
Is spreading the seeds of life from a space
Of life to lifeless so that
Every place becomes full of life.
I learnt how each component of nature
Lends its hand and helps in full blow
For all the purpose that has intensity
And gravity of meaning in its positivity.
How when a flower is at its full bloom
And its seed is ready to spread
The wind carries it in her lap and moves it
Somewhere far away where earth is
Seeking life.
How once the seed is thrown on the land,
The earth takes it inside her
To provide her all strength to grow
A seed into a newborn plant.
How once wind and earth has done its job
The rains take the charge
To let seed grab some of its water
Essential for its growth into a plant.
How sun and moon, day and night
Take their turn to complete the
Cycle of life and the lifecycle
Of a day!
The whole conversation with
God for the first time
Changes everything in me
And everything around me
That was the summer of my life
That was the summer of my life

Poetry: Life: First Meeting With A Stranger

Top post on IndiBlogger.in, the community of Indian Bloggers

First time, I met the life
when the day was about to end
The sun was going to sleep
The moon was rising
and there she was
sitting alone on a corner table
Silent, lost and thoughtful.
The moment I entered, and saw her
It was like a magnet pulling me towards her
and I started walking towards her,
reached her and asked
Can I look into my eyes?
My first meeting with Life!

Poetry: Dad – Can I Marry Her: Long Conversation – Dad And Son

Hi Dad! I have something to discuss with you
if you have time?
Sure Buddy! Go ahead!

Dad!
I don’t know who she is
And what is her name
Same is with her for me
I don't know what religion
She belongs to, or
What is her Mother tongue
Whether she will be able to understand me
Or not
As we have never talked to each other.

But one thing I am sure of is
The first time I faced her on the road
When she was coming in my direction
And I was walking towards her
The moment we looked into each other’s eyes
I got a message from God
That we are not meant for walking against each other
But together
Forever!

Dad!
I know it might appear quite premature to you
And quite kiddish
But I am serious.
Still it is too early to get a big jerk
So I can move back and close it forever
If you say so.
As if I move ahead
The distance and time will take least
To fill the gap between the two of us

But one thing we need to be clear of
Before I do that
She is just she and I am your son
If I have got the God’s signal right
And if I have grown rightly under your shadow
Then whatever is her religion, language and background
She will be as acceptable to you as me
Nothing less nothing beyond.

Then whatever is the length of time we all are destined
To live together
We will never move back, ever!

Son!
If religion, caste and standards define the life
Then probably God’s message for all would not have been same
All religions talk the same
It is us that we sometimes interpret it in our own way
Depending on the level of selfishness we want to delve into.
I am nobody to decide whether you are right or wrong
I just am meant to guide you, mentor you and love you
You move ahead and take your own call
As neither you nor me know as of now
If you will be successful or fail
But still go ahead
And decide your fate on your own
Where you don’t repent on not taking first step
Towards what you want to do!
And promise not to repent

If you do not succeed!!
